The Whisky Bourbon Scotch Enthusiasts (WBSE) group has purchased a barrel of GlenAllachie Speyside  Single Malt Scotch Cask 5874 which was bottled in June 2021.  The elixir rested in PX Puncheon for 12 years after being distilled on January 4, 2009.  The color is rich mahogany with a nose of dark chocolate, figs, plantains, ginger and nutmeg.  On the palate it has layers of mocha and heather honey fused with pineapple, grapefruit and citron.  Only 300 bottles exist for the world.  FranksWine has been chosen as the exclusive retailer to distribute very special bottling!

This film is a celebration of the people who helped turn the Scotch whisky industry into the juggernaut it is today. And they are celebrating the release of this film with a week of online events to coincide with Burns Night, which honors the life and work of Scottish poet Robert Burns.

“Burns Night has always been a night for friends and family together,” said Trevor Jones, one of the film’s producers, in a prepared statement. “Since this year that is not an option for so many, we hope that we can provide an opportunity for communal experience. You can watch the film, hear the amazing stories, incredible score and all while having the world’s best whisky. Even if you can’t be in the same room, you can share the same experience.”

The six-day virtual premiere, running from January 22 through January 27, will present online screenings of The Water of Life followed by hour-long discussions with some of the people featured in the documentary. The special guests joining the sessions include the likes of Jim McEwan (Master Distiller), Adam Hannett (Bruichladdich), Mark Reynier (Waterford Distillery), Rachel Barrie (Brown-Foreman), Stephen Rankin (Gordon & MacPhail), Liam Hughes (Glasgow Distillery), Charles Maclean (Author & Whisky Consultant), Blair Bowman (Author & Whisky Consultant), and Jenna Elie (Scotch Malt Whisky Society).

This collaboration whisky and wine and cocktail project between FranksWine.com and Genesis Z & The Black Mambas grew from the 2020 world pandemic. This eclectic Indy group became the house band at a makeshift outdoor patio in the parking lot of a wine shop which provided a safe environment while offering up live entertainment and a slew of libations to neighbors who craved normalcy during a time when many were homebound and bored out of their minds. 

It started out on a random Tuesday in January 2021 when band members Genesis Ian, Dustin Manucci, Jovan Lucky Jefferson, Red Schonhardt, Geoffrey Giordano, and their manager Kenneth Hawkes stood around a barrel with whiskey guy Jared Card and FranksWine owner Frank Pagliaro and together we tasted thru five Japanese “elixirs”… we all fell in love with this one. Like GZBM‘s music it’s magical and layered with its sweet mellowness of vanilla, its spiciness from the three years in toasted oak, fruity dark cocoa aromas and a soft lasting finish. Then we moved onto wine!  Frank got in touch with his California winemaker peeps and together they created a worldly blend to match Genesis Z & The Black Mambas worldly music. We wanted to make something that was an affordable, easy-drinking wine but special just like the music that GZ+BM creates.  And we did a damn good job with it!

The California Red Blend is inspired by Frank’s dream blend of Grenache lending notes of black pepper spice, the Zinfandel gives it that plush in-your-face black fruit, the Barbera balances this wine out with bracing acidity and the barrel-aged Malbec ties it all together.  Welcome to the Mambas, embrace it!
