A New Taste of Oregon
This past week the FranksWine Crew got a visit from Darelle Ploof of Oregon’s Del Rio Vineyard Estate. 99% of our Oregon section here on North Union Street is made up of Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley.
Darelle and her 13 bottles that she walked in with are from Rogue Valley, which is about four hours south of Willamette. Gotta tell ya… we haven’t been this impressed by a tasting in quite a while! After tasting through her lineup our top five picks were a Viognier, a Syrah, a Bordeaux blend, a chillable slightly spritzy Pinot Noir – which is going to be great come spring and summer! – and a traditional Pinot Noir.
Stop in and taste with Darelle on Saturday from 12 noon to 3 PM and let her educate you on these not-so-common varietals coming out of Oregon wine country!
