No passport. No airfare. Just a trip to Pennsylvania Avenue!

Chef Michael DiBianco of Moro Bistro and yours truly are teaming up for a Rioja Happy Hour on Wednesday, October 21st at Moro from 4PM – 6PM!
For $25 per person, you’ll enjoy a handful of Spanish-inspired small plates and a glass of EACH of our two featured Siglo reds. Michael handles the cooking. I handle the wine. You get the very difficult job of showing up hungry and thirsty.

So… what’s pouring?
Siglo NV Tempranillo • Rioja • $19.99
92 points — James Suckling

All Tempranillo, all kinds of tasty. Cherry and berry fruit, floral notes, a little spice and a touch of vanilla. Twelve months in French and American oak, followed by six months in the bottle, give it a smooth, rounded finish. A whole lot of Rioja for under twenty bucks.
Siglo 2020 Crianza Selección • Rioja • $24.99

This one brings a little more muscle to the table. Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano from vines over 50 years old, aged for 12 months in French oak. Think ripe plum, dark fruit, cedar and baking spice, with velvety tannins and a savory finish. Go ahead and start thinking about dinner.
And what’s with the little sack?
Yep… the wine comes dressed for the occasion. Siglo’s signature jute sacks are hand-cut and hand-sewn by Asprodema, an association supporting adults with learning disabilities. It’s a Rioja tradition with a good story behind it – and a pretty damn good bottle inside!
Stick around for dinner and order a bottle for the table, or pop across the street to FranksWine and grab a bottle or two for home.

See you at Moro… and keep an eye out for more PA Ave Happy Hours with Moro + FranksWine!
Cheers!
